Severe weather elsewhere delays flights back to Baltimore (2024)

IT WAS, ACCORDING TO THE TSA, THEY SCREENED THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF PASSENGERS EVER HERE ON FRIDAY, ABOUT 3 MILLION PASSENGERS TODAY SAY IT’S ABOUT FLIGHT DELAYS. WE JUST CHECKED FLIGHTAWARE 5:59 P.M. THERE HAD BEEN ALREADY TODAY MORE THAN 5400 FLIGHT DELAYS IN THE U.S. AND. 151 OF THOSE WERE HERE AT BWI. NO ONE LIKES TO HAVE THEIR MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY WASHED OUT. EVERYBODY HOPES FOR GREAT WEATHER AS THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND WINDS DOWN. HEADACHES ARE MOUNTING FOR MEMBERS OF THE FLYING PUBLIC, LARGELY DUE TO STORMS. THAT’S ACCORDING TO FLIGHTAWARE, WHICH TRACKED ROLLING FLIGHT DISRUPTIONS IN BALTIMORE AND ACROSS THE COUNTRY TODAY AS STORMY WEATHER MOVED EAST AND ACROSS OUR REGION INTO THE EARLY AFTERNOON. IT WAS COMING FROM THE MIDWEST AND AREAS IN TEXAS AND THE MIDWEST WERE REALLY HIT HARD. SO WE CAN CONSIDER OURSELVES LUCKY IN THIS AREA. WHILE BWI SAW SEVERAL BOUTS OF RAIN, NO RUMBLES OF THUNDER WERE HEARD, BUT THERE WERE PLENTY OF LATE ARRIVALS DUE TO BAD WEATHER. ELSEWHERE, ETAS IN THE RED AND STACKING UP THROUGH MID-AFTERNOON MONDAY. MOST WERE FLIGHTS OUT OF NEW YORK, CHICAGO, ATLANTA AND AIRPORTS IN FLORIDA. PASSENGERS WHO MADE IT BACK TO BALTIMORE ON TIME TOLD US THEY WERE RELIEVED. ARE YOU RELIEVED THAT YOU LANDED BEFORE ANY OF THAT HIT? YEAH, ABSOLUTELY. I’M SO HAPPY YOU MADE IT ON TIME. HELPS ME OUT WITH MY SCHEDULE FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. THIS COMES ON THE HEELS OF A RECORD BREAKING START TO THE LONG HOLIDAY WEEKEND. THE TSA SAYS IT SCREENED NEARLY 3 MILLION PASSENGERS ON FRIDAY, THE AGENCY’S HIGHEST NUMBER EVER RECORDED IN A SINGLE DAY. ARE YOU HOPEFUL THAT YOU WILL GET OUT OF HERE BEFORE THE STORMS COME IN? VERY WELL, I HOPE, BECAUSE OUR FLIGHT’S NOT UNTIL LATER TODAY. WE’RE DON’T HAVE. WE’VE GOT A 4 P.M. FLIGHT, SO I’M HOPING IT’S NOT GOING TO BE THAT BAD. THEY WERE FLYING HOME TO SAN FRANCISCO THROUGH PHOENIX, AND WE JUST CHECKED AND THEIR FLIGHT WAS ONLY DELAYED ABOUT 15 MINUTES. IT TOOK OFF AT 415, SO THEY MADE IT OUT OF HERE SAFELY BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER THAT’S LOOMING. AS YOU HEARD TOM TALK ABOUT, IF YOU HAVE A FLIGHT OUT OF BWI KAI AT SOME TIME THIS EVENING, YOU ARE ADVISED TO CHECK WITH YOUR AIRLINE BEFORE HEADING TO THE AIRPORT. REPORTING LI
