Sofia Vergara says dog Bubbles 'hates' her and sleeps with husband Joe (2024)

Sofia Vergara has told how her dream of adopting a dog went horribly wrong once she brought Bubbles home and she instantly preferred her husbandJoe Manganiello.

The Modern Family actress, 48, joked that the Chihuahua has 'stolen everything that was hers', after moving into the LA pad she shares with her actor beau, 44.

Sofia discussed her pet - who she branded an 'idiot' - during a recent appearance on the Ellen Show, as she revealed the pooch has taken over her bed and husband.

When quizzed on her dog Bubbles, Sofia said: 'I don't have a dog it's not mine, it's Joe's dog.', despite revealing she originally bought the Chihuahua for herself.

When Ellen showed the audience a picture of the pup, Sofia said: 'Look at her, idiot.

'It doesn't even look like a Chihuahua, it looks like some sort of teddy bear. The dog was for me, I got the dog, but she arrived and completely ignored me. Went straight to Joe. She has taken everything that was mine.'

Joking about how Bubbles has made it clear who her favourite is, she said: 'It's not funny - it's horrible, she's taken my husband, my bed.

'She sleeps in bed with Joe, they sleep together and then I sleep on the other side. It has become something so weird.

'But I have to say it's not Joe's fault, it's her, she's obsessed with him.'

Ellen then admitted she can understand why someone would be obsessed with Joe, however Sofia quipped back: 'Yes, but not to that level. She hates me.

'If he has to go away for work and she knows she has to stay with me in the house and knows she has to deal with me, but won 't do eye contact.

'She's always looking out, every little noise she's looking for, she can't enjoy the time with me. It's like she knows she has to sit with me cos I'm the only other person in the house.

Ellen said: 'I have that with my three dogs, they prefer Portia.'

While Sofia joked: 'Oh so you must be worse than me!'

'So I was thinking maybe I'd get another dog, but it could happen that they'd also fall in love with him and not with me.'

Sofia then told Ellen how she thought it was awful how she had renamed her rescue dogs, and that her and Joe kept Bubbles' rescue name.

Joe and Sofia have been married since 2015, tying the knot at the Palm Beach resort The Breakers which is an historic hot spot for high society parties.

The sitcom diva has a son named Manolo, 29, by her first husband Joe Gonzalez who had been her high school sweetheart in her native Colombia.

Modern Family made stars out of its cast particularly Sofia whom Forbes ranked as the world's highest-paid TV actress for several years during its run.

Last year Sofia made so much money on her various projects that Forbes reported she was the world's highest paid actress in any medium.

All 11 seasons of Modern Family became available simultaneously on both Hulu and Peaco*ck beginning this February 3 less than a year after airing its finale.

Modern Family enjoyed its long 250-episode broadcast run on ABC which has the same parent company as Hulu - Disney.

Meanwhile Peaco*ck is the streaming arm of NBCUniversal which of course own's one of ABC's main broadcast rivals ABC.

Disney and NBCUniversal have struck a multiple-year deal that has allowed for both company's streamers to share the program, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
