  • MikeWilliams

    NYJ Wide Receiver #18

Jets HC Robert Saleh said Mike Williams will be on a snap count to open the season.

With their eyes fixed on the entirety of the season, the Jets don’t plan to give Williams a full complement of snaps to begin the year. Williams is returning from a season-end knee injury that he suffered in Week 3 of last season and only recently began practicing. Fantasy managers who are considering using him as a third or fourth fantasy option in Week 1 against the 49ers should do so with caution, as it’s possible Williams provides minimal production in his first game back.

  • HaasonReddick

    NYJ Linebacker #7

Jets HC Robert Saleh said Haason Reddick is not at the facilities, but he’s not ready to rule him out for Week 1’s matchup against the 49ers.

What do we even say here? Reddick missed OTAs, mandatory minicamp, and training camp. He’s holding out for a new contract that doesn’t appear to be on the way, as recent reports from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said, “There doesn’t seem to be any action between [Reddick] and the team,” in any capacity. Even if Reddick unexpectedly reported to the facilities, it’s hard to imagine him suiting up for Week 1 after spending months away from the team.

  • Jets signed DB Michael Carter II to a three-year, $30.75 million extension.

The Jets lock up their slot corner with a three-year extension that can be worth up to $33 million and includes over $19 million in guarantees. The deal makes Carter the highest-paid slot corner in the NFL. Initially a fifth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Carter has started 20 games in three seasons for the Jets. He has 23 passes defended, two interceptions, and 185 tackles throughout his career. Now locked up for the foreseeable future, Carter reinforces a scary Jets secondary with Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed playing the outside corner positions.

  • HaasonReddick

    NYJ Linebacker #7

Jets GM Joe Douglas says nothing has changed with the team and Haason Reddick.

Douglas also added that he has “faith that this will all get resolved.” It’s a bold statement by Douglas, who bears a lot of weight when it comes to resolving the months-long standoff between the team and their star pass rusher. Reddick was seeking a new contract from the Eagles before being traded to the Jets and is now waiting for a payday that seems unlikely to come from his new team. Reddick demanded a trade from the Jets a little more than two weeks ago, prompting a quick response from Douglas, who said, “We will not trade him.” Everything is perfectly normal in Jets Land, with less than two weeks to go before the start of the season.

  • LekiFotu

    NYJ Defensive Tackle #92

Jets HC Robert Saleh said Leki Fotu (hamstring) will be sidelined until Week 4.

Saleh said that the team was hopeful he’d be ready to go by Week 2 or Week 3 but that the lack of practice ahead of Week 3’s Thursday night contest against the Patriots was the deciding factor in stretching Fotu’s absence until Week 4. Fotu joined the Jets this offseason after spending the first four years of his career with the Cardinals. In 56 games, he’s totaled 89 tackles, 12 TFLs, and 3.5 sacks while also making 21 starts.

  • MikeWilliams

    NYJ Wide Receiver #18

Jets HC Robert Saleh said Mike Williams will be available to play in Week 1 against the 49ers.

Saleh said it “wouldn’t be fair” to expect Williams to be 100 percent healthy in the team’s season opener but added that the veteran receiver will “be plenty available to make his mark felt.” Williams is returning from a torn ACL he suffered in Week 3 of last season and has reportedly had a nice few days of practice since joining the team this week. Fantasy managers should approach Williams with caution for the season opener. While it sounds like he’s a near lock to see the field, he could be a true boom-or-bust play in his first return to action.

  • BrandonCodrington

    BUF Defensive Back #43

Bills acquired DB Brandon Codrington from the Jets.

The sides are apparently swapping late-round, 2026 picks in the deal. Codrington is a 23-year-old undrafted rookie who has some return skills. That will be where he tries to make it onto the field for the Bills.

  • JordanTravis

    NYJ Quarterback #3

Jets placed QB Jordan Travis (ankle) on the reserve/PUP list.

The Jets have been labeling the fifth-round rookie as behind schedule since the beginning of training camp. It’s not exactly encouraging but is hardly surprisingly considering the extremely serious nature of Travis’ college ailment. We probably aren’t going to see Travis taking real practice reps until next year’s offseason program.

  • MikeWilliams

    NYJ Wide Receiver #18

Mike Williams (knee) will begin taking 11-on-11 reps in Jets practice Tuesday.

It’s perfectly-timed progression with the Jets’ opener now less than two weeks away. The 29-year-old could still be up against it to be fully ready for Week 1, but at worst, he’s going to miss a game or two. Most likely is that he’ll be active for the opener but perhaps on a snap count.

  • MalachiCorley

    NYJ Wide Receiver #17

ESPN’s Rich Cimini believes Malachi Corley will open the season as the Jets’ fifth receiver on the depth chart.

It’s not a great projection for Corley’s fantasy outlook, but Cimini does add that Corley “can contribute immediately as a screen/gadget player, a loa Deebo Samuel.” As long as Allen Lazard continues to make plays with Aaron Rodgers in camp, he’ll likely remain entrenched as the Jets’ WR3, but if Corley can capitalize on his sparse opportunities early, it wouldn’t be surprising to see his role grow over time.
